After our wedding last night, Matt and I came home to a very nice surprise... double acceptance letters into the Wedding Photojournalist Association! (http://www.wpja.com/)
The WPJA is a worldwide organization of photographers whose primary focus is on the candid, storytelling aspect of wedding photography.
From their website (from the 'for the Bride & Groom' section)...
"The Wedding Photojournalist Association is a highly screened, critical organization. Less than 5% of wedding photographers out there qualify for membership."
"Membership in the WPJA depends entirely on photographers meeting our high standards for inclusion. One cannot simply pay his/her way into the WPJA. We emphasize this is not another ad-driven wedding web site."
Matt and I have always strived to focus our shooting on telling the story and capturing the moments, and inclusion in this organization is a great source of encouragement and inspiration for us to continue expanding our techniques and honing our skills.
And for brides and grooms, you should definitely head over to the WPJA's site for the Bride & Groom section and the absolutely fantastic articles for how you can make the most out of your wedding photography, and get the most out of your wedding photographer. Those are some of the best I've seen, and I only wish I had the time to individually give our couples the kind of indispensable advice that is available on there... check it out!!
