Erin F. | Trash The Dress! | Powell, TN

What is more fun than a trash the dress session? Not much! I couldn't begin to properly describe how much we love this kind of shooting. There are no rules, no limits, and we get to be control freaks about the location and time of day that we shoot to guarantee that we get the best images that we can. And since we all know how much being a control freak makes me a happy panda, that's a very good thing. ;-)

Erin F. won our Trash the Dress contest last Spring, and we finally got together a few weeks ago at her friend Jimmy's ranch. Since a big part of Erin's life is working with large animals, the ranch was an absolutely perfect spot to have her session. Erin wore her senior prom dress and a pair of cowboy boots. So fun!

I have so many favorites that this would grow to be an impossibly massive entry if I posted them all, so I tried to narrow them down to a select few.

We started out on horseback.. bareback and barefoot, of course, on this beautiful boy named Pete. He was such a good boy with putting up with our antics as we posed Erin on his back. An afternoon storm blew through right before we started shooting and it left us with some awesome clouds to help set the mood.




By the time we moved into the arena, the sun was out and wasn't far from setting, providing us with *unreal* golden light streaming into the barn in all the right spots.




Take note here that the clay Erin is lying in had just been sprayed with water. She is a trooper!!


Next we played in some hay! Notice that her dress is still nearly spotless. Some fabrics are more resilient than you might think!








We had to play around with the colorful farm equipment


This grass was also pretty soggy from the thunderstorm.. and still the dress held up beautifully!


This is just a simple shot of her standing in the middle of some amazing cedars on the property, but I still really liked it with the antique texture.


A former bride of ours, April Lamb, saw our blog entry about the contest. She works for WBIR and asked if she could come along and cover the session for a segment on the Style show. I stepped way outside of my comfort zone and agreed, because even though there's no place I'm more comfortable than behind a camera, I am *terrified* being in front of one!
