Monica and Nate | Celebrating 20 years! | Knoxville Convention Center

Back in September, we photographed an event that was new to us! Monica & Nate have been married for 20 years, and decided to mark the occasion with a vow renewal ceremony. After photographing so many weddings, it was very moving to see a couple in a setting very similar to a typical wedding day, but who already have 20 years experience with challenges, happiness, hardships, and love.

The evening before the wedding, we attended a small gathering that Monica had for her friends, who had traveled from many different places to celebrate with her. Monica had not seen some of these women in a very long time, so you can imagine that there were some happy tears to be seen!



Monica had many activities planned, such as quizzes, toilet paper wedding gown competition, and lots of fun girly gifts and prizes!













The next day, there was a lot of activity over at the Knoxville Convention Center as everyone prepared for the rest of the day:

During the ceremony, Monica paused at the end of the aisle while a poem she had written for Nate was recited by a member of the wedding party. If that wasn't enough to stir up some emotion, as she slowly made her way down the aisle, Nate sang an original composition that ensured there was not a dry eye in the place.

The reception area had been washed in colored light, which is something I recommend for every bride looking to spice up an otherwise simple room. This is such an easy way to totally change the atmosphere of your reception and definitely adds some punch to your photos, as well!
